The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and meaningful part of our Catholic traditions. Our parish has many requests for scheduling such Mass intentions, but we only have a certain amount of Mass intention opportunities. However, in 1991, the Vatican issued a decree on Collective Intentions, permitting the practice of taking more than one offering for a single Mass. the principle rules governing this practice are:
Also, Church law requires the pastor to celebrate a Mass on each Sunday (or Saturday evening) and on Holy Days of Obligation for the itention of the people entrusted to his care - for the people of the parish. That Mass cannot have any combined intentions.
In our parish, Kim Sachse receives the Mass offerings and schedules the intentions. If you wish to have a Mass offered, please reach out to Kim at 913-775-0690.
