THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WAS SENT ON A POSTCARD TO OUR PARISHIONERS (it is being included with the bulletin 6-6-21 in case you have not received yours yet):

Archbishop Lifts Dispensation from Sunday Obligation

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Archbishop Naumann instituted a dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, meaning Catholics in the archdiocese were not required to attend weekly Mass in person due to the risk of COVID infection. As vaccination rates increase and hospitalizations are decreasing, the Archbishop has announced he is lifting the dispensation, meaning Catholics in the archdiocese are again obligated to attend weekly Mass if they are able. The obligation will be effective the weekend of June 5-6. Below is the Archbishops official statement.

“In light of the availability of effective COVID vaccines, the rising rate of immunity, and the dramatic reduction of hospitalizations and deaths related to the virus, I am ending the dispensation of Sunday obligation, effective the weekend of June 5-6, 2021, the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi).”

COVID Protocols

As of 12 May 2021, all archdiocesan safety protocols relating to COVID-19 are rescinded. As we strive to provide a safe environment for our parishioners to worship, we recommend those who attend Mass and other parish functions continue to follow a few reasonable guidelines:  Use hand sanitizer when entering church and practice social distancing when possible.

Thanks to Our Parish Community

This past year has been very challenging for everyone in many ways.  However, there are many positive items that our members supported to allow our Parish Community to continue to grow and nurture our Faith.  Some examples: extra Masses throughout the week to allow members to attend while social distancing, CCD, 2020 First Communion, outreach by email and facebook, assistance with COVID protocols. This is a great indication that our parish is strong and with the help of our dedicated members we will continue to flourish as a community of Faith.
